I am just curios about how I can get to know what are the keywords of a site that doesn't belong to me.

    Thanks in advance :)

In addition to using Google AdWords tool, you can figure out top queries that drive traffic to a site in question in Alexa. Just type-in a site's URL, hit ‘Get Details’ first and then hit ‘Search Analytics’. In ‘Top Queries from Search Traffic’ you will find the top ten keywords which have driven the most of traffic from search engines to the site during the last month.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to find out what keywords your competitors are targeting, correct? Unfortunately I don't know of any tool that can provide that data for you so as frustrating as it is the best way to find out is to simply scope out the other site. What keywords do they use in their Title tags, in their content and in their own link building activities. You can't ever really know 100% about the competition's SEO.

Apart from using the keyword research tools, you can check the most popular pages of its website or the ones which have the most backlinks. The site would be optimized gaining traffic from search engines. against those specific keywords.

One great way to know is to simply just look at their title of the website.

The title or "h1 tag" is one of the most important factors in onpage optimization, and I'm sure the website owners know that... so in turn, they will typically use their keywords in it.

But to check every single keyword that a site is ranked for is almost impossible. You can only try and guess the obvious ones, and manually check it yourself :)

    To Your Success,

    Marc

there are various keywords research tools available in the marketplace, for example market samurai.
you can also use adwords keyword tool , just type one keyword related to your website and it will give a whole lot of keywords related with your keyword along with their monthly searches..

    What you can do is.

Go to google keyword tools and do your search for the words that you want to use for
    your articles.

Make sure you take into consideration the competition and the search.

You can put in the website in a site analysis like Majestic SEO and check out their link profile. If they have a backlink strategy that is a good one, you will be able to see a graph that utilizes their target keywords. If their site is optimized for on-site SEO then you will be able to see within their content of the pages i.e. page title and meta, what keywords they are targeting. However, if there is no strategy or optimization for any of these then you probably wont be able to see them.

A long time ago I used to do what you want to do using the Google keyword tool

Instead of entering a keyword, I'd do a Google search using my desired keyword, then I'd paste the home page URL of the top ranking site into Google's keyword tool - and I'd get a breakdown of all their keywords

I'd then paste top ranking site #2. etc. etc. until I had found all the keywords of the top ranking sites

The Google keyword tool has probably changed now, in order to make things more difficult for SEO's - but there are software tools to do the job - the one I use costs about $150
