Keywords no longer relevant?

I have an ad group on google ads with about 450 keywords and all of them were active until just a few days ago when suddenly all but a handful are inactive and I need to up my bid to something ridiculous (about $5). I haven't changed anything on my site, I've been adding more and more relevant content, and I can't figure out why it would suddenly nix all of my keywords. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I haven't heard of anything like this; I wouldn't worry too much about it right now though.

    Hello,

I had used G adwords and Yahoo PPC in the past and when I was outbid, the ads didn't run till I highered my daily budget.:(

What do you mean by "nixed" are the adds NOT having impressions AT ALL?
Or are your being outbid and so your current bid is not enough for your adds to run? THE LATTER is probably the case.

Adwords has nothing to do with your sites content it's all about PPC so if someone has bid higher for certain KW you're pretty much hosed! You will have to up the bid, OR tweak your KW according to the bid rates.

Use their tools to determine the current bid rates for the KW adds your missing.
    Hope this helps

Actually, although with adwords you can be outbid, usually when you're seeing a minimum bid of $1 or $5 before you get impressions, it's more often because the system thinks your site content doesn't match the keywords you're using (i.e. your site is about, say, computers but you're putting in keywords about sports to try to get more traffic). Google doesn't like it because that means unrelated ads are showing up with some keyword searches and content matches, thus meaning fewer relevant clicks, which means less revenue for them (and their content network). This is why I was suprised when bids of $.10 which were more than enough for the college related keywords I was using were suddenly outbid by over $5 - when my site is about college.

But if no one else has seen this, I'll just hope it goes away or contact google if it continues. Thanks!

if you have low CTR, means that the visitors that comes to your websites are highly targeted, so you need to pay more for each click. Try to improve ad text to raise your CTR

Maybe you should consider tweaking your keywords to less popular but relevant keywords, so that you have to pay less for each click. There may be less potential traffic with different keywords, but you'll also be paying much less for your traffic.

Thank you! This completely solved the problem - I made a couple of other text ads with some more targeted words in the ad and all my keywords are active again. Thanks!
