    hi ron,

there are 4 steps you need to follow:

    1. select the right keywords for your home page, keywords that are in demand and for which there is low competition

    2. optimise your home page for those keywords, and this requires much more than just adding them to the keywords meta tag (there are more than 10 locations on a web page where keywords should be strategically located)

    3. submit your site to search engines

    4. build your link popularity for those keywords by working hard on your backlinks

    Hi Ron,

SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization", which is the task of optimizing your web pages to rank well in the major search engines for specific keyword phrases (aka search terms).

I agree with the comment above about frames - they are not search engine friendly, and a few changes to your site structure could really make a big difference.

As for the keyword phrase you mentioned, "small business hosting", it gets approximately 656 searches a day - according to the WordTracker free trial. It is also a very competitive niche in the search engines... It may literally take thousands of inbound links just to get in the top 20 results for that phrase - and they would need to be "quality links".

I have an article titled "Understanding Keywords: Choosing Them & Using Them" on my site at: http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com/archives/042005.htm that you may find helpful. This will help you with keyword research aspect, as well as knowing where to use these keywords both on the page... and off.

    Hope that helps :)

beside relevant content, you'll need a lot of relevant links. Web hosting is a very competitive topic for SEO.

i agree with Lynn, Overture returns the following:

'small business hosting' with a demand of 10,137 (which is around 300-400 a day) but Google reports 38,800,000 hits for that keyword which is a huge competion

this means that it is not a good keyword for you to target
