Dear all, I want to optimize my site with three keywords. For example:

    1. First

    2. Second

    3. Third

So, I made title tag for my site like this : First | Second | Third

If I submit my site to several directories, forums etc. So, I will get back links with this anchor text First | Second | Third.

    Is this method is efficient?

or After getting the top position for first keyword by placing the it in the anchor text like this First, then only I have to target the second and then third?

Please help me. Thanks in advance... :(

if you put all of your three keywords as one anchor, i believe it will be read by SE as one,,
If I were you, better to use your target keyword as your only anchor,. or use different anchors instead of enclosing it all as one

Well if you use "First | Second | Third" you will probably rank for "First | Second | Third" and also but less good for "First", "Second" and "Third".
Perhaps check if "First | Second | Third" gets searched too and when you rank for that you can start with every keyword seperatly.

    Does that make sence?:)

To all, where is this documented?

"Separators mean different things to a search engine inside a query. A hyphen works as a localized EXACT operation, while a vertical bar works as an OR operation. "
