keywords in sub domain?

    i think its fairly common knowledge that having keywords in your domain is freat for seo
    Particularity long tail keywords
    example
    www free ringtones online .com

    but what about in a sub domain??

    example
    www.freebobdylan. ringtones.com

    does this still have the same effect?

    In my experience it has an effect. I got a subdomain with good keywords into the top 20 on Google within a couple of days for those keywords. Getting a new domain to the same point took 3 months.

    They are unbeatable
    But you need then to get links to the subdomain.

    Linking from the subdomain counts and the main domain so life is never fair....

    i though this would be the case

    yeh in my experiance alot of link juice gets passed to sub domains from the main url as long as it stays relevant
