    keywords in domain are not an absolute must for SEO. Keywors have a negligible weightage for SE rankings. You should concentrate on link building

    It used to be true that keywords in a domain helps in getting highest position, but not anymore. Unigue, rich content and backlinking is apparently, the way to get high rankings these days.

    cheers

    Yahoo and MSN still seem to like the Keywords in the URL

    Thread hijacked. I mean, I don't mind really, so no big deal but I would only like to point out that I was asking about overlapping keywords in domains, not just straight out keywords.

    That's in case someone comes up with something new and possibly unknown and/or untested.

    Thanks! :)

    I agree, Yahoo and MSN still like keywords in a domain, and who knows what Google likes anymore.

    cheers

    Uh, SEO is not a delivery service. Even if Google caches the site it doesn't mean you are going to rank for either word, so what difference does it make?

    This seams to be such a miniscule portion of seo that I couldn't imagine wasting time on it. I don't think people meant to hijack your forum. I think that they were saying that this is not an efficient use of your time. You could spend all day on a your domain name and I could take 2 minutes to buy a $20 directory link and I will outrank you.

    Then again, what do I know?

    @uca:

    They would probably take the configuration that resulted in the most correctly spelled keywords. Good question.

    Thanks jward!

    brandondrury, the reason the thread was hijacked is that some took advantage of the subject to debate some more obvious issues.
    Mine isn't, although even yfs1 who has plenty of experience, doesn't know enough about it.
    Still, sooner or later we will find out.

    I'll just give you some advice: there are sometimes circumstances in which even a "miniscule portion of seo" could make the difference.

    Nevertheless it's always a fascinating subject, particularly for me and for those who are not just after money, but regard SEO and the internet world as a hobby and "waste" time on it rather than for instance watching some crappy tv show for instance.
