im thinking of buying a domain name and it has basically the keywords exactly as typed into google.

is this a big bonus or should i just buy a domain name i like

    eg:

keywords in search " nice cars for sale " my domain www.nicecarsforsale.com

or should i go with somethings like www.cartrader.com

will the bonus of having all keywords help a lot or a little?

I think having a keyword in the domain has some weight to rank better but I can't confirm that.

you have to compromise between having keywords you want (for search engines) and have your domain not look like crap and be easy to remember and look credible for people
both cartrader.com and nicecarsforsale.com have their advantages.
I don't thinkl there are many/any searches for " nice cars for sale "
however if your site is about cars, you probably need "car" in the domain name to look credible for both search engines and people vs. horseygirlsite.com - yes any one can tell it is all about cars! :)

Keyword rich domains do help but to get the full juice of a keyword rich domain you need to take the time to build relevant backlinks via things like article marketing and youtube videos just to name a couple...

Do try to get the main keyword in your domain. It will definitely help your search rankings. If you are lucky, you will find just what you are searching for.... sometimes you might need to adjust with the nearest name available for reg.

I'm assuming you want the domain name and your web page to rank well in the search engines.
This depends on two main factors, exact keyword match and competition. Exact match is usually best, and will only come up first page after content and SEO work. If the competition is high for that keyword, it will take more linking and traffic work. If you cannot get exact match, then try adding prefixes and suffixes to the keyword from the search engine stopwords list. This is basically a list of words generally ignored by search engines (like 'the' 'a' 'and' etc.).
For easier ranking, deeper in the niche will usually be keywords that are not so popular, but with a decent amount of search traffic. These are usually easier to get closer to first search page placement results more quickly. All the usual SEO and content work is still always important.
As mentioned by atxsurf above, keep the name relevant, unless you have long term intentions of building a brand (as in 'a keyword name you like'), in which case you are in for a lot of work, time and money spent. Brand building takes lots of effort, and the income may not be immediate.
And, domains are cheap. Grab it if it's what you want, sort out the rest later. Be aware that I have heard some old existing domains already have a bad reputation with the search engines, though I have no way of researching or determining this, so it could be crap information. If anyone knows about this, please start a new thread about aged domain reputation or similar.
    Hope this helps.

I have noticed in the past several months that keyword based domain names have been performing 4-5x better in Google than ever before. It seems to me that Google has recently changed the algorithm to put greater weight on keyword based domain names.

I'm personally not a huge fan of this change, but it is what it is.
