    Hi you guys
i have some questions related to keywords in domain names.

I have found a great keyword in a domainname consist of 2 english words.

the problem is that it doesnt have standard ltd like.com or .net but a .nl/.be/.eu/.pl/.cz extension.

(PS i can't tell the name of the domain so don't ask)
    Now is my question:

Their is a big competitor and he has same keywords but and extra word and with hyphens between the 3 words and extension .tv. And which of the other ltds above should i use for better search engine placement?

He is number one in google for those 2 and 3 english keywords.

Let's assume i get good backlinks, on page seo, off page seo, etc etc
can i be ranked high in google with an english domain name but a dutch(nl) ltd.

Or does google see this as a problem.

The site is for worldwide surfers.

I hope someone can give me some tips about this issue.
Could't find a question like this on the forum

Well, I'd buy EU as other extensions are very local and EU is a little more general and popular than those extensions. Also those extensions like BL, CZ etc probably will have an advantage at appearing on Google's of those countries. I mean if you buy a PL extension your site will have an advantage at Google Poland but I'm not really sure about the main Google so buying EU is better compared to those extensions.

I think if there is something like .co.uk or else relevant to your country that can also help u. I m not sure about .nl/.be/.eu/.pl/.cz domains

I do indeed have an opinion.

I always said that keywords in the domain have little impact on ranking in most search engines. Especially in Google the advantage is minimal.

The only time when it effects rankings is when somebody links to you and uses the domain as link text. But if you do proper SEO, you will have your keywords in the link text anyway.

In fact, if you use a domain like www.keyword-keyword-keyword.com you might end up in the "sandbox". It is just to obvious what you want to achieve and Google knows this technique longer then you and I do know.

My suggestion is: use a TLD like .com and don't worry about keywords in the domain. It is far more important to have a domain that is easy to remember, short and catchy then having keywords in the domain.

I know, there is a large amount of people that worship that theory. Mostly domain name merchants :).

I show you something using a very competitive search term. I even believe it is one of the most competitive ones in the Google universe: "SEX".

Do a search a see where www.sex.com is ranked and see how many sites have the term "sex" in the domain.

Then do that same experiment with the search term "property".

When you check the top sites backlinks you will find that they have many links with the respective term as link text and that is why they outrank www.sex.com and www.property.com

    Convienced?

If you use a country specific tld then you will get SERP on country specific search results. If can use one more word (like review or guide or blog) after your keyword if the exact keyword domain is not available.
