I know that this is not a new questions around here but it seems like wherever I look I get the same answers. Some say that having keywords in your domain is verry good for SEO, some say it doesn't matter and some people say that it's good but not necessary. Does anyone really know? Because If it has no effect on SEO, then why does everyone buy keyword targeted domains? Is it because they don't want to take the risk or what? I would hope that the domain name does not matter because then everyone would be able to have nice domains instead of having ****** keywords like "blueboatsmadeofwood.example". Please, if anyone knows a trusted source that can confirm anything, the post it here once and for all!
it has a big effect you have keyword in domain is better than keyword in <title> you have keyword in <title> is better than keyword in <h1> ... so if you have keyword in all places, you gain advantages
It makes a big difference for sure. If you can't have it in your domain, be sure to at least have it in the url for your deeper pages (and obviously Title and H1 tag)
I had written an article about keyword domains in google some time back .. See if u find it useful. http://www.earnfastcash.org/keyword-domains.html Also I would really appreciate if you share how the blog in your signature with absolutely no content is having an alexa of 500k and my blog which has loads of valuable content doesnt seem to even cross 1000k at the moment... lol Still quite a fact that I must be missing on something which you can surely fill in !
Ye, I just set up my blog yesterday lol. I don't even have more than 10 visits a day to it yet so I don't know. My goal is to get below 100k. I've just done some backlink building by submitting comments on blogs, forums and writing some articles so far. So there's nothing special going on yet. I have not even begun trying to get better alexa rank. xD Mind posting a link to your blog so that I can see it?
It's one of many factors that can affect your rank, but it's also one of the easiest to take care of right off the bat - assuming your site is about one main keyword and would make sense in the domain name. It's a no-brainer.
of course it matter if you want to get results quickly..it would be harder to outrank those competitors which has keywords on their domain.
Well earnfastcash.org is the blog that I am talking about... Do take a look ! If u havent already ...
Dude, I have no idea. it looks really nice lol and you even have pagerank. I don't really know how alexa calculates rank, but the only difference I see is that I got more backlinks than you do. You got more content, the site is older and you probably also have a lot more visitors than I do lol.
I never thought alexa rank was based on backlinks cause its Alexa Traffic Rank. But I will surely check it out that way.
There is no doubt having keywords in the domain can help. But i think the general benefits get a little bit overstated. Just because you have a keyword in the domain doesn't guarantee top rankings. But if you can get an exact match keyword domain that would be the best. We have a few competitors with exact keyword domains and they rank no 1 on Google (little backlinks, little on page optimisation...etc).
Keywords in domain have a HUGE EFFECT on rankings and relevancy as to where Google is going to rank you in the Search Results. Keywords in domain and Title have an even GREATER EFFECT on where Google decides to place you in the Search Results. Google pays a lot of attention to these types of domains/websites...
Install the Alexa Toolbar on your browser and watch how fast your Alexa Rank decreases. In as little as a couple of weeks you will see a huge decrease
I don't think it's based on backlinks either, but that's the only difference I can see. Also, I just went from 599k to 491k alexa rank over night without doing anything lol.
Thanks everyone for answering my question. It seems like keywords in domain has enough effect to be considered having. I hope Google won't change this. =)
From personal experience I can tell you that keyword matching .com .net and .org domains have significant impact on low competitive and a lot of mid competitive keywords and phrases as well. I guess Google will decrease the importance of exact match domain but at the moment exact match domain will give you an initial boost in rankings for sure.
It is always better to have keyword on your domain name, not only because of the SEO but your visitor can know your niche when looking on your domain name. Also, it can be easy memorized by the visitor
