I think you should try to find a good seo beginner tutorial. They will explain what you need to know. Then if you need further help, come back here with any specific questions.

Fine...I'll answer your question anyway lol.

Keywords are words or phrases that users type into a search engine to find your website. You'll need to put your important keywords in certain spots in your website such as the page text, the page title, meta description tag, etc. You'll also want to get backlinks that use those keywords as the link anchor text. Before throwing keywords onto your site, you should do thorough keyword research to determine which would be the best keywords to target based on search volume and competition level.

Keywords is the most important in SEO. If you don't have keywords your targeted visitors will not find your site. It would be better if you can put the keywords in title, meta description, image attribute and in content.

    Hello....

I agree with Vansterdam, try to find a good beginners guide to SEO and read up on it.

A keyword is the word or phrase that is used when somebody is searching on a search engine. What you as the site owner want to do is to match the keywords that people are searching for to your site. This way when people hit the search button it will show your site (hopefully) on the first page of the search results.

The way that you get that to happen is by telling the search engine what your website is about. In a sense you need to be able to talk to the search engine, and the way that you do that is simple yet complex. You want to first decide upon what keywords will work best for your site. Once you choose your keywords then you want to start by using them in the titles of your site and all its pages. Assuming that you have more than 1 keyword, you will want to designate specific pages within your site for specific keywords. You will want to match up the keywords in the titles of your pages to the keywords that are actually on that page, within the content. So for example if your page is www.yoursite.com/keyword1 then you will want to title that page with keyword1 somewhere in the title and then put keyword1 a few times in the actual content on the page.

Building links to specific pages using the keyword as the anchor text is also very important.

I know this is alot of information for you since it seems you are new to SEO, and frankly you might not understand it all now, but just take your time and learn proper SEO and you will have great results. SEO is the single most rewarding way to promote a website if it is done correctly.

    Good Luck!

Try and find some good newbie-level tutorials on keyword research, and how to use your keywords effectively.

Get rid of the concept that the more keywords you have the better - this could not be further from the truth. When it comes to keywords in my opinion it's all about quality, search volume and competition.

Just as pipes said - your keywords are to be used everywhere from your content to your post titles, meta description to your url's.
