I have a website of education portal which provides list of colleges courses, state or city wise for all over the india. But i am little bit confuse about the keywords that which keyword should i use for home page and subpages. I know the keyword research but i am not able to get the base keyword for my website. If any one can help me then please tell me.
Hi, WHat you by base keywords its nothing but the service that you provide according to your service it will be education based key phrases.
Keyowrd analysis is not a kid play you need to keep a close watch on the market trend like there are some keyword that might have high competetion some may have more competetion so..... you need to select the keyword based on all the factors !
find the top websites in your field and take the keywords of theme. then analyze theme. and add theme to your website.

Could you tell us if you've been using a certain software to track keyword rankings? Such a tool would provide you with quite an insight, or allow you to compare your website to a competitor's. I know a couple that might to the trick for you but do let us know if what you've tried so far!
@Ade Vitan I Use google adwords to track the best keywords for my website. I think is the best keyword tool. I track keyword rankings manually. Now can tell me plz about yours.
Look first find out top competitors of your website, steal the keyword ideas fro those websites and use keyword planner for more relative keywords. Look for competition by watching indexed pages for each keyword, and make final decision which can be best keyword for your website. You also will have to use your experience because nobody knows your website better than you.
