Keywords for gamesites?

    I checked the keywords and everyone seems to be using "Free Online Games" for the most part. It is a highly competitive keyword.

    What should I do? Do i have to find a keyword that has a lot of queries but not that competitive that is a catch 22:confused:

    How soon will it take for the keywords to showup in the search engines.

    I will accept any ideas. I read a lot of posts but my site is gaming related and seems to act differently to some suggestions.

    you should have to consider the number of competitors and the number of search per month or maybe week.. it really takes time to rank a certain kws depend on how you are going to do it, and also depend on the status of the kw.

    "free online games" is a massive keyword (very competive) why don't you put your main focus on smaller keywords such as;

    Web games, free web games, web gaming, online gaming, online web games. These keywords aren't so competitive and can easily bring your gaming site up to 2,000 daily unique visitors.

    Look for other related terms in keyword research tools then use a less-competitive keyword. Start with long-tail ones and as you succeed with that, you can go one step higher until you are ready to compete with a very competitive KW/s.

    go for the gold. Go for the one that gets the most searches if you can snag a good domain with that in it. Then also use your anchor text to aim for the smaller keywords. Don't aim for keywords that get hardly any searches. It will be easy to rank #1 but you won't see much traffic from it

    I think it is a good idea to use something easier for the beginning (like Get Free Online Games Today) and then to promote more serious keywords.
