Keywords for Campaign on Display Network

How do you figure out which keywords to use for campaigns on display network?

In the help center, Adwords suggest we use the keywords that are most likely to appear on the websites you wanna be targeted. Sometimes, I found it quite hard to trigger big impression.

Anyone found good way to have the best keywords? It seems the keyword tool helps a bit more for campaigns on search network.

Try to keep your keyword lists longer, more general and broad matched this will give the system more chance of placing your advert next to relevant content across the network (still be as accurate as possible and break the campaign down in to multiple groups with multiple adverts per group)

Alternatively you could set up your display network campaign targeting only websites that you manage using the placement tool. The placement tool will help you target your ads to specific sites or pages across the network.

Hi, tks for your advice. You're right, we shall try both.

While I find that you don't need too many kws in an ad group, or that's not easy to form a theme. Try different combination of kws to find the perfect group of ones.

Actually, that's wrong advice to use the content network. First, only the first 50 keywords are used. Second, your keywords have to be very specific. The content network doesn't work by searching pages on the network for your keywords. The system figures out a theme to your keywords and finds pages with matching themes. Too many, the system has a hard time figuring out your theme. Same if you have too few. But you must have a tightly focused theme.

The match type doesn't matter. You only need to use broad matches.

You should find sites and pages related to your offer. It's better this way, although more work, than letting Adwords find pages itself based on your keywords.
