keywords and domains

    I am about to start a new site at the moment. I am just trying to think of the domain.

    There is a domain I was going to buy that has 2 of the main keywords for the site and then an abbreviation.
    something like (keywordonekeywordtwoinfo.com)

    now the first two keywords will show up often throughout the site, but the info will not.

    Will having the info there hurt my ranking in anyway. Or will it be ok still because the first two words will show up?

    Alternatively there is keyword1-keyword2.net


    not sure which I should go for, the first or the one with the dash

    So might grab that instead

    Hi Danny,

    Are you meaning in terms of SEO or domain values?

    In the SEO point of view, the best would be key1-key2.net. Hyphens are teated as word separators in most search engines so having a hyphen will not hurt your SERP. The .net extension will not hurt the SEO either :)

    This domain fails the radio-test thou...

    In the end I have gone for

    key1key2.org as it was available it is more SERP that I am worried about as this is a flash in the pan site that i hope to build and then move on, whilst the topic is hot.

    I may buy key1-key2.net as well since that will likely be better for the SERP.
