Keyword wording\spelling guidelines?

Being new, and reading a lot about having too many keywords when you do not have a lot of text on a page (mostly images), etc...Is there a guide to help with things like how many variations of a word you should have in the <meta tag" Does a word with an 's' on the end mean that you do not have to say 'job' and 'jobs', and instead just say 'jobs'. Do you need to say 'play more' and 'more play', or will the first one do for both (does having a space in-between the two words mean that (unless they are both in quotes) both will be picked up)? If I am selling T-shirts, do I also need to say t-shirts, t-Shirts, and 't shirts'. Can I say 'tee shirts' even though the word 'tee' is not on the page (at what point am I going to be considered 'Black')? If I have a t-shirt product that relates to risk taking (from asking that attractive person out, to extreme sports), and while I do not mention anything on the page about sports or extreme sports, can I have a keyword of 'extreme sports' in the meta tag, or is that considered spamming?

Ok most of your answers can be answered with the following.

Which keyword phrase are you targeting? It should be researched so that you know it has high search volume and low page and top ten competition.

You should have 5 of these keywords for your site with one page optimized for each one.

IF you have done your keyword research you will know exactly how the keyword phrase should be.
    This affects.

    the order of words
    does it have an s
    if extreme sports are related.
    And yes they all matter...

At the moment my guess is you haven't done any keyword research telling you which keywords to use for your site.

My friend your question on this forum should be how dot i pick the best 5 keywords for my site.

    hope it helps

Your assumption that I have not done any keyword searches is incorrect. Actually, I have used https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal?defaultView=2. It does not answer the questions that
I posting here. I asked questions about the use of singular and plural words, that Google search tool (and you), have not answered my questions. You stated "My friend your question on this forum should be how dot i pick the best 5 keywords for my site." That in it's self is informative in that it tells me (I think), that I really should try to use as few keywords as possible. It does not tell me if the use of 'T-shirts, 'T-SHIRTS', 't shirts' "tee shirts' etc, (If I do not have all those actual words in my content), is allowable or needed; and, does the use of all of them pretty much use up the "5 keywords for my site.", that you previously referred to. There has to be a document\book\whatever somewhere that is a little bit more informational.

Here is an example that makes me think that I need to use both singular 't-shirt', and, 't-shirts'...http://www.optimizationstrategist.com/2009/04/18/human-behaviour-in-search-plural-vs-singular-matters/. Another item elsewhere gave me the impression that the internet is mostly case-insensitive, so I should use lower case mainly. There has to be a document somewhere that has most of this stuff documented...instead of me having to find the correct keyword to help me determine how to set up my keywords. I found another document elsewhere that said that most searches are poorly done because they only use two keywords, and that they should actually use between 6 to 8 keywords for a good search (well that just blows away the 5 keyword thing).

Is there a tool available that I would supply my <meta keywords to, that (possibly by looking at the content of my website), would tell me things like, 'you might be considered a spammer (or a black site) because you are using keywords that are not on your site', 'you have way too many keywords for the amount of content on your website', 'you have too many keywords that are basically the same thing', etc. etc.
