Keyword with LOW COMPETITION but thousands of monthly hits? yes or no?

Im doing some keyword research using Google Adwords keyword tool and I found a keyword that has a "low competition" and 2,700,000 monthly searches. (globally and locally)

would this be a good keyword to do a website on? if the competition is low shouldnt it be easier? But with that much search volume it seems like my odds are stacked

I wouldn't take what the keyword tool tells you at face value. Use it as a starting point and do your own research to make sure the competition really is low. Check the number of adword ads, and check plenty of third-party traffic sites to gauge the search volume.

in keywords tool: low competition means not many people pay for this keyword, and you won't get much money for each click

Just because the keyword seems to be low competition, is it something that actually gets people to click on the ads. I would do a test market, if you have never done an adwords campaign before. READ the rules before you begin, they are really picky about the rules. Good luck!

There could be a reason for why it's low competition. Maybe it's a phrase that doesn't monitize very well, i.e it's a phrase that searchers use that are not really looking to buy. So this phrase could have been tried, tested and failed but it doesn't stop you giving it a good go by trying it in an Adwords campaign to really see for yourself. It could be a phrase that competitors have simply missed and you have found a gold mine.

'Free SEO Software Tools' has high keyword competition according to Google's keyword tool. So does it mean you can bid on that and expect huge profits/ROI? If so, how could someone looking for a free software info=download will buy it?

While doing keyword research you can take ideas from a keyword tool but cannot entirely depend on it. In your case you can go for that keyword and optimize your site for that keyword. Also, find its exact matching results in Google search to get an idea on how many pages got indexed and how well can you shape up your website to that search term.

    All the best!

The ad competition for those particular keywords might be low, but the ads displayed on your landing page may not always be low paying.

Ya, but then again, they might not have the skills to take on competitors - especially those who have more links.

Yes, there are various keywords at which competition is low while users are searching too much. means huge traffic but competition low. So you can get good position at these keywords easily.

I believed that the keyword you mentioned is "short keyword". That's good to use this kind of keyword in your website but i will suggest you go more deep into the keyword, find some long tails words

You may have found a gold mine with this! But if advertisers are not around to take advantage then maybe the niche is not ever-green. Try to use this as an advantage and add up CPA offers to your site.

If,the competition is low in google adwords doesn't mean you can out rank your competetion .Head to google.com and check with"your keywords" the searches and the sites enlisted within the first page.If the sites are low on PR and backlinks then you can out rank them easily.

I would definitely try keywords with low competition and see what it will brings to me, before deciding which ones to pursue in long term

Go for it, do extra research if needed, and grab it. If you have time & ideas, do not miss on stuff like that.
