I always try to have a keyword weight of above 2%.

My question is how high can I, and should I go, without being penalized by the search engines?

I think Yahoo will accept anything up to 8% but Google may be lower?!

Does anybody know what is better:

1.staying at the lower end (right around 2%)

    2. or pushing it to the limits?

Place your keyword to the title tag and limit it to 3-4% on every page.

I hope one can increase the weight of the keyword, when you combine it with your title. It means place your keyword as a part of the title tag.And use it on the whole as a title. This can enhance the weight of the keyword, without getting pennalized by the search engines.

Google says write content for the visitors not for the search engine. So you can use 3% keyword density.

I would suggest keeping it below 9%, or else you may be penalised for keyword stuffing.
