Well, both keywords are valuable. But I found "mens shirts" more valuable than "shirts mens". However, there are some crucial factors to select a good keyword: Volume (As must as better) Keyword Difficulty (As low as better) Search Intent (Commercial, Transactional, Informational and Navigational) CPC Search Trend and etc. And you should not choose only one keyword. We say focus keyword which must be one but you should choose some related keywords also which could use inside the article or product description.
Hi wan, i got some points from your reply. yah i have filtred out nearly 40 keywords related to a product. for example as said like above say shirt. the above 40 includes indeed related keywords. problem is, say i am selling shirts on etsy.com, they only allow 13 keywords. so when situation like this, my question comes. weather to use both duplicate variations or go with one and give room to other related keywords to enter the list. hope u undestand my point.
40 keywords are too much actually. However, first, select one main keyword which you should use 1-2% in the description, title, URL, image alt and target keyword and meta tag as well. And related keywords could be used inside reasonable sentences. I hope you understand. One focus keywords (inside the title, description(1-2%, inside URL, meta tags, keywords, image alt) Related keywords only when necessary.
These are called synonyms and how you can rank for different variations. Google will naturally rank you for them sometimes. When you see you’re on page two for one and haven’t used it in your content, go and add it and usually that will move the keyword up in ranking. Always target as many keywords as possible. Instead of getting 2500 search volume, with multiple variations you could be looking at 4000 monthly volume for example. Use your main keyword in your H1 tag, then synonyms/ variations in your H2 tags. Image “alt” tag should have your main keyword. URL should also have your main keyword.
No, these ain't synonyms. Of course not. Don't go for so many keywords, if you do so, you will confuse the crawlers and also make your content useless.
