Yes, he is being sued by ebay for cookie-stuffing his way to millions. Search google for "ebay sues shawn hogan" Court Documents.... http://www.courthousenews.com/2008/08/26/eBay.pdf Page 7 is the yummy stuff that details on he stuffed his cookies.
Thanks for the info. The lawsuit certainly explains why fixing Keyword Tracker is not very high on Shawn's "to-do" list. I would guess that Keyword Tracker is unlikely to be fixed any time soon, if ever. Another guess is that Shawn, if guilty, cookie-stuffed his way to hundreds or maybe thousands, but nothing remotely close to millions, unless ebay pays its affiliates a whole lot more than I think it does. The whole business is sad and disappointing and unpleasant.
hundreds, maybe thousands? Okay... well lets look at the facts. This is the first time Ebay has sued any affiliate. Said affiliate cookie stuffed from 2003-2007. 4 years. This is the same person that makes 100k+ a month via Adsense. Now do you think Ebay would waste its time starting at the bottom of the list, or at the top of the list? The top Ebay guys make over 1,000,000 a month. You can find it right at the site.
I don't mind paying any amount for a tracker. But this tracker was the easiest, the simplest, and free. Sadly, the paid ones are too crazy. Just make it simple and easy and it will sell. I should just develop my own.
I've tried to stay as far away from ebay as possible since I got burned a few years ago. I don't like auctions anyway. I find it very hard to believe that there are any affiliates making over $1M a month from referrals, but I suppose that anything's possible. You'd have to have many millions of visitors a month, and a substantial number of them would have to click through to ebay and buy something. I have no idea how many people visit Digital Point per month, but I'd be surprised if it's millions. I can't remember seeing any ebay ads in the Keyword Tracker section of Digital Point. I don't know how you know how much money Shawn makes from Adsense, but I find $100K+ a month hard to believe. Not as hard to believe as $1M a month from ebay, but nevertheless hard to believe. Maybe Shawn has an entire Internet empire that I don't know about. That I could believe. I could also believe that he, and others, are blowing a lot of smoke up everyone's ass as far as income is concerned. If he's making so much money, why did he pull the scam that he's accused of pulling? Or are you saying that all of his income is illicit? I'm not sure that I care, one way or the other. As I said, the whole business is sad and disappointing and unpleasant. I found Keyword Tracker to be a very useful tool, and as I don't make $1M a month or $100K a month or anything remotely like that, I appreciated that it was free. I'll miss it.
Because it makes him ALOT more money. I have seen examples where a site gets 1,000 visitors a day. 10% are stuffed with cookies which makes the site 2k a month. Not my cup of tea, but I don't see this tracker being fixed ANY time soon.
I have no trouble believing 30,000 visitors a month for a site. I have no trouble believing 3,000 visitors a month stuffed with cookies. I have trouble believing that enough of them go to ebay within 30 days and buy something, thereby generating a referral payment, to earn the site $2K a month for referrals, unless each referral pays $100 or so. But let's say that it happens. That's a far cry from $1M a month, unless Shawn has 500 such sites, each of which makes $2K a month. Does he? Greed is not good. Neither is getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar. Guilty or not, Shawn is going to be otherwise occupied for the foreseeable future.
Still not working, I sent email to support address but apperantly they are sucked up by ebay for the moment.
I don't know how or why, but for some reason it worked for me today. I hit refresh every couple of days, not expecting anything, and today it worked. Interesting....very interesting.
I doubt if he earns that much. It was around 10k in Jan 2006. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/16/t...2ce1aae484c0b1&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss Alexa reports that the traffic of DP forum actually went down in last 1 yr or so. Making millions per month from ebay also sounds a little too much.
It actually ran complete today. Lately if it did work it would stop with about 30 left to go, this time it ran all of them. Hope it sticks.
It is so odd - for the first time in a week or so it seems to have run through the keywords for me today. But why? It is all such a mystery.
