I am seeing lots of my competitors dropping but my sites haven't moved. Unfortunately most of my keywords are N/A but the ones that do rank have bounced around some but nothing unusual. One of my competitors did drop 159 from the #4 position...

I guess I should count my blessings that some are down 14 or 5 or 2, some of the top spot ones are still in the same place.

I'm actually seeing a lot of my results going up. One keyword has gone up 40 places!!

Not had much increase in traffic of visitors though which is the main aim at the end of the day. Must just have rubbish sites. :)

One site I tracked did a bit poorly, the other one did fairly well.

Traffic numbers never seem to relate to the SERPS I'm tracking.

This is true even though I track over one hundred SERPS for each of those sites.

In the long term, I know they must correlate strongly. In the short term, I just don't see it.

I have vanished for some of my stronger ones. I am still learning the SEO world so it is not too bad, but I would sure like to have them back.

Even if you knew everything it was possible to know about SEO your SERP placement would still vary from day to day and as Google make algo adjustments.

You are being incredibly naive if you think that you can learn enough to have your page sit in the #1 place forever, or even in the top ten.

You are wrong in this instance Bob, if I put together a page about

    jASNHflhwariulhaelihauhiuahsdf

and that was my keyword etc....

pretty sure I could make it stick for a long time.

With that said, you are correct, for certain terms, and the ones I am working on, it will not be easy. I am working very specific keywords and market areas, so it should be 'easier'. Just wierd that my results look like this for the last 4 days [IMG]

Unless the searches I am doing for my site aren't the right keywords....

Mine is stuck at 25. I keep hitting refresh and it keeps doing nothing.

OH that worked well. After the post it finished up!

Mine has been jumping all over the place the last few days. It's been rising 8 spots. Then dropping 14. Then next time I log in, it's up again.

They do seem to bobble about. Perhaps part of Google's algorithm is to randomly move things about just to keep people guessing.

But the point of a search engine is to provide relevant results, not to provide a guessing-game for webmasters.

And as the ratio of webmasters to searchers is heavily weighted towards searchers, then a stable relevant search engine is what is needed most.

Along with the little daily fluctuation on a single Google Datacenter, is the difference in positions BETWEEN the different Datacenters.

Look at these results! (below is a composit of Keyword Tracker and Datacenter Quick Check results)

You can find your placement on the different datacenters with this tool

Mine go up, go down, go all-around! ;-)

Seriousely, I see just random movement, although the swings seem to correllate well with big peaks at rankpulse.com ... which isn't too surprising.
