Keyword tracker showing large negative numbers

I have several keywords, and it seems to grow slowly with time, that show a large negative number. For example, -9998.

It seems from what I can tell that the ACTUAL rank is 1000 + (the number). Eg 1000 + -9998 is 2. That keyword is in fact ranked at 2.

I have -9995, -9991, etc, the rule above seems, anecdotally, to apply in many cases.

    Thoughts?

Are you sure the negative number isn't in one of the change columns?

Sorry, yes, wasn't clear. It is in a change column. But it doesn't make sense to me. The rankings were fine & stable on a manual check. So why the odd numbers?

Google may be throttling your API usage (there have been reports of that happening lately). See this post.

Hmmm, put in the sleep(2). Didn't make any noticeable difference. Apart from going slower of course.
