Just wondering what everyone's KW strategy is. For me, I use KeywordDiscovery.com, come up w/ two core keywords (and other minor keywords). I also use long-tail Keywords as well. I put my core KW in the title tage and meta description tag. I also put my keywords in <strong> tags (sometimes) and try to put them in the beginning of the paragraphs if possible. Headings - I put them there as well. I'm probably forgetting somethings - but I like to see what everyone else is doing.
I agree that Keyword Discovery is a good choice. Your overall strategy sounds good. Of course, most important of all is to get those keywords in the anchor text of your backlinks. I like to target keywords that have a lot of overlapping. That way it is easy to target some other related keywords because you already have strength for some of those individual words.
I am using google keyword external tool and Google insight for keyword research. Usually taking 4-5% keyword density and 70-80% keyword proximity. ALso using LSI while writing web page content and headers optimization along with alt tags.
Put the keywords in your url, title and content with plenty of similar anchor text. If your site is new then try for a four word keyword phrase and as you get some PR cut your keyword phrase down to 3 words!
Hi! It helps if you know how to do keyword research at the very first so you can have an idea on what words are commonly used for tags and links. Good luck!
