I have written (by hand) a few dozen landing pages, tuned to single specific key phrases. I've listed them in a sitemap, but there are no links on the site to the pages. At first I thought this was going to help, by creating landing pages written specifically to high volume, relevant key phrases. Now I'm having second thoughts and wondering if Google is going to ding my site for spamming. What do you think?
Landing pages for specific search terms is smart SEO, but they can't be orphaned (ie. they must be linked to from your site. From your home page preferably. Don't try to hide them, but be creative and camouflage them - hidden in plain site type of thing. Take a look at http://freetrivia-and-pubquizquestions.com (ugly as hell I know - I haven't updated in years!) I have legit links to over 1000 pages created for specific keywords. See if you can find them

That is certainly Smart SEO and not considered spam at all. Even blogs use this structure to name and categorize pages. So go crazy, www.yoursite.com/very-good-seo-tips-for-your-website-by-pearl-group.html will only help you
Not sure but i think if each of page has its own unique domain name then that may do a little help but otherwise not.
Good Stuff... but one thing, its important to link pages from homepage? Or like Homepage link to Page A (Keyword landing page), and that Page A to Page B, and Page B to Page C, A and etc..etc.. ?
