Keyword Searches per Month

Before you started anything, with all your keywords combined, how many searches per month did you calculate to want to have?

I have started my first project and so far I've come up with keywords that could yield me 7000 searches per month.

Should I set a bigger number to achieve by getting more keywords so I don't hit a quick limit to how much money I'll be making?

Can you guys tell me how many searches per month you were looking at with the keywords you got before you started your projects?

It depends on the niche, your goals, and the competition for the keyword. There is no set standard. Some keywords pay pennies, some pay dollars. Some people are happy with $10 a month, others need $5K a month to make it worth their time. Having said that, I would say most people try to get a keyword with a lot of searches because they want the potential - and this is the reason most people fail. Start small, and when you have it down, try for more competitive keywords.

Also, remember it's not just about search volume. What you need to find is the right balance between search volume and competition. That will vary depending on the market or niche but a good place to start is with Market Samurai's recommendation of at least 80 searches per day with less than 30,000 competing pages. That should allow you to get some good rankings fast and still get decent volume. As you gain experience in the niche you can always tweak these parameters.

    Yeah..it's true.

Try to target for keyword with less than 3000 competitions when you search it with "keyword" in Google.

For the search numbers, if you use Free Google Tool, make sure you look for Exact Phrase..not Broad Phrase (default setting).

Otherwise, you will get wrong estimation.

    Cheers..
