This sort of a workaround that works with the infamous "keyword(s) are currently inactive for search. " problem i have been getting. It seems to me that google is keeping track of one, an accounts previous bid history, and two, looking at the website traffic and keywords to determine a minimun bid. Here is what i discoverd after testing. I started an ad campaign for a small newspaper in rural california, i used terms such as "daily news", "newspapers california city", etc. I kept gettomg the same message "keyword(s) are currently inactive for search. " I kept modifying the keywords. Nothing worked. And there is no way in hell that i would pay 5.00 per click thats just absurd. Anyways, I have an older adwords campaign for granite cleaners where i have been getting historically low cpc, i mean the average bid price is 3 cents. So i thought hmm, why dont i add the keywords here from my newspaper campaign. What happened next was that all the keywords from the newspaper all of a sudden became active for search all 156 of them for 3 cents! So i just changed the ad title and Link and went with the campaign. Sure i was averaging #5 placement in 156 words. But it is hell of alot better than being #1 in only 3 words. The campaign remained active for about a week, but for some reason it mysteriously became inactive again showing "keyword(s) are currently inactive for search. " arrgg. I would go as far to say that google logs IP address, looks at your other campaigns. when determining what is your minimum bid price. I will further test this theory on multiple accounts. "Fresh" accounts will get lower cpc minimun than matured accoutns
They do not log IP for inactive your keywords. If I create here in Brazil the same campaing with the same ads and the same keyword that you are doing there, the keywords can become inactive and active after some time - this is pretty normal. They simply allow you to reset your own inactive keywords, by creating another ad group and starting from scratch - is also documented in AdWords help that you can reset the history by deleting the keywords and addding them again after some time. Your keywords become inactive probably due your ads are not relevant for the keywords that you're using. Post your ad here with some of the main keywords and I will show will how to produce relevant ads that 90% of the keywords remain active.
