Keyword rich domain

In the SEObook, Aaron Wall highly advocates keyword rich domains.
    My question:

    I'm promoting a hotel that's probably had it's domain register 2 years:
    www.hotelname.com

Is it worth me registering and promoting www.hotelNameParis.com? The threory being that you get your keywords in all your anchor links? While keeping the basic domain on all documentation and email addresses.

Or should I just promote the www.hotelname.com.

    Advice much appreciated thanks!
    James :)

You should also check the search volume for the particular phrase, otherwise it may not be worth any effort..!!

Using keywords you are targeting in your domain name is a smart way of getting search engine love. Try to use it in one string of words. It helps.

Say you are targeting the keyword "hotels in paris", buy "hotelsinparis.com". You can rank pretty easily if it is not too competitive.

From an SE point yes' it's always better to have a rich keyword domain, but if your going to market your domain name offline remember you have to make sure it's not "10 miles long" either or that it's hard to remember, etc. Sometimes it may be better to use one domain for offline marketing and one for online marketing.

Plus you can also have a few sites / domains related to the main site that targets each market.

    Example:

Your main site domain www.hotelname.com - Used for online & offline marketing

2nd site domain www.luxuryparishotels.com - Base this domain on what people are searching for, plus domains like this one can be used for offline marketing.

This domain's keyword "luxury paris hotels" is searched in google US over 60,000 times each month. and has around 400,000 sites competing for this keyword. target this keyword long-term.

BUT the keyword "luxury hotels in paris" is search over 1,600 times each month, and has around 88,000 competing sites. Yes it has less searches but you should be able to get rankings without to much trouble.

Ok' better yet the keyword "luxury hotels paris france" is search over 60,000 times each month, and it ONLY has around 2,000 competing sites in google. Shoot this keyword phrase you could get with your eyes closed ;0

Again this process works for what ever market your hotel is targeting.

    I hope this helps you...

Why would you bump a thread that is over a year old?
