OK - New site is in the making - the questions is shall I just going for a keyword rich domain, which will be long or shall I just make up a name like google did?

I would go for richly keywords and not allot of people targeting it, for example for building wallpaper site, myspace resource... but if your site is offering something unique, then choice unique and nice name that is easy to remember and also makes sense. like bebo, facebook, google...

    Hope you get the point.

    Kind regards,

    No contest

Make your targetted long tail keyword your domain name.
If people are looking up your phrase and see a domain name with that exact phrase, they will invariably click on it.

I really like made up names for branding and marketability, however keyword names do help a lot with SEO ranking.

I sometimes opt for both. Start the site on the keyword rich domain name but also aquire a made up name and forward it to the keyword site. Brand your site with the made up name so that users can have an easier whay to remember your site name. Then, eventually make the switch when the time is right.

I'd go with choosing a domain that has my keywords in it. It can help you rank better.

Try finding a good domain name with keyword terms in it. Find a domain name that the keywords have good traffic but less sites listed in search engines.

brandable unique domain is much better than keywords rich domain since it's usually shorter and you can get sitelinks more easily.
