I hope someone can answer this question for me. I've heard that google somewhat favour the websites with the exact search phrase as domain-name. As I search for free online games and freeonlinegames.com is favoured. Is this true? Does google favour these domain-names? And if yes, do anyone know if it is a considerable amount of SEO this gets you? Lastly, if yes, does it make any difference if it is a .net .com or .co.uk domain that we're talking about?
The tld makes no difference - having the keyword in your domain name is a help, apart from anything it automatically gets included as an 'anchor text' in backlinks. But you have to balance that against memorability and uniqueness - personally I'd use a 'keyword domain' for a short term project, but choose something punchy and memorable for a long term project. After all, not having a keyword in their domain hasn't harmed amazon, facebook, ebay, twitter etc.
Using keyword rich domains could help but they would not replace the important roles of the links nowadays as the off page elements are really determining factors for the sites rankings.
From my experience, keywords on domain plays a major role in serp rankings. Then again its not the only factor.
From my experience the following helps: eg. Search query = Free Online Games Result is Title = Free Online Games URL = FreeOnlinegames.TLD Description = Free Online Games here, Free Online games appear thrice in Title, Description and URL. So, you will get better ranking for url = freeonlinegames.tld for keyword = free online games I have several websites which are new and they ranked well in a week's time wherein the keyword was present in URL also. So your query that " I've heard that google somewhat favour the websites with the exact search phrase as domain-name." is RIGHT. As far as .TLD is concerned, it does not matter whether it's .info or .com as most of my sites have ranked well irrespective of .TLD Everything above is all my personal experience. BUT YOU NEED TO WORK ON SEO ( ON PAGE , OFF PAGE OPTIMIZATION ) TO MAINTAIN YOUR RANK.
Yes, it helps alot if your domain content the exactly keyword. There are no different for google on the tld basically
It's easier to rank higher having a keyword in TLD. +1 for you if you do so against all other results in serp.
I don't agree .. google won't consider more for your domain name..but mostly its content, quality and keywords of your site.you should concentrate on that..
I found that it does help. then again you could also deeplink and use the right keywords in the anchor text, that would amount to the same result when getting links. www.domain.tld/keyword
maybe u should use only one keyword in your domain address. like "cars", after some time u will need to optimize site for different keywords: "used cars" , "new cars", "cheap cars", "rental cars" so your structure will be: www.cars.com/used www.cars.com/new www.cars.com/cheap www.cars.com/rental if u use keyword rich domain: www.used-cars.com, and if u want to optimize for keyword "new" your structure will be: www.used-cars.com/new - it is weird, isn't it?
