I always see on here "always do your keyword research" and things of that nature but I was wondering where can I do good keyword research for free? Or are there any cheap programs?
I know how to find competition of the keyword I just do not know how to find the number of searches that those keywords receives. I know keyword discovery and wordtracker are good but both of those cost money. Anyone know a good cheap (free) way to find out the number of searches different long tail keywords receives?
Its a good tool, recommended by many gurus. It gives you numerous related keywords for the keyword of your choice, which you can use to dig deep. Here is another one: http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/keyword-research-tool.shtml One more: http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ This one from the Big G https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal Hope it helps Anil Pandey

You're most welcome. Such sharing of data sometimes can throw up some new insight to an existing issue. You give some, you get some! Anil Pandey
Here's a quick tip you can do with the google tool I use all the time but it does require you to use excel. I'll open the whole google keyword result in excel using the link google gives ya..First thing you will notice is all those graphical bar graphs of google turns into decimals, alot easier to figure out what those shaded bars mean.. Ok create 2 columns to the right of the results, give them what ever name you want. I use to formulas to help me sort through the google results =average(Avg Search Vol, Advertisier Comp) I know it's an average of an average but it help me qualify the results into 1 number. The next column I just create a simple true false formulas like average results > .5. This lets me quickly filter out all the crap real fast. then after I have played with my filtering, what I want from the results etc I'll dump the filtered list into wordtrackers free tool and get the actual search results this helps me weed out some more junk. Many times doing it this way I've started with lists of 500 or more (several google inquiries imported into excel) and by the time I use my formulas and filter and weed results and use the free wordtracker I've landed up with 80 keywords. This helps me alot more in deciding titles for blog posts article titles etc.. Hope that helps.
