hey all I have big problem with searching good keywords, it's almost impossible to : find a keyword related to good cb product product with: - 2500 - 12000 monthly "pharse" searches - below 20 000 competition pages I have a feeling that I'm too late in this stuff... every good keyword have too much competition, I don't have enough knowledge, and money to buy 10 000 backlinks and 3000 articles to beat the competition, also i don't want to waste my time for some useless products. should I gave up, or find something else? I have few ebooks (fastattack seo, google sniper) but it's all about keywords... thx in advance Kristof
JMO but competition numbers aren't the best way to determine the competition, neither is searching using "all in title" or "all in url" search strings. And you should be doing an "exact" match for the search numbers. The only thing that matters are the first page (10 listings) in the SERPs not the competition numbers. Look at how well they're optimized both on and off page, mostly the number of backlinks as well as the type (edu or gov), PR of the links, as well as on page optimization. MarketSamurai and TrafficTravis (free version) will give you a good picture of the first page of the SERPs. Or the Firefox browser and SEOQuake addon does it also, but not as quickly (Firefox 3.6 recommended, not the latest version). But for evergreen niches other sites have over a dozen years headstart so it'll be difficult and take time to surpass them if you ever do. Some people go for a longtail keyword with the main keyword they're targeting in it so there's less competition, that way they can build some links and generate traffic before trying for the main keyword. Other people look for another keyword. I guess it depends on if your traffic will only be from the searchengines, some people use articles, twitter, facebook, etc. to drive traffic.
thx a lot for the tips, also I'll be trying to target even easier keywords (below 1k monthly searches), maybe will be better to build few more pages around tat kind of keywords? At least they can generate few sales each month, and with adequate scaling, I could make some good $, maybe not 10k$ monthly, how do You think?
