i usually choose Google Keyword Tool, but sometimes Google Wonder Wheel, Google Insights and Seobook Keyword Tool are very useful too.

    Hi nani

Google Keyword Research Tool is the best tool and no need to look for any other keyword research tool.

The leading keyword research tools are Keyword Discovery and Wordtracker but there is a payment for this service.

I always use the free Google keyword tool prior to deciding upon an article title or a new webpage. It makes some difference when you see various different articles and webpages you've completed getting to page one on Google and all because you did that little bit of research at the very start.

If you have the funds, Micro Niche Finder is IMO the best all-purpose keyword tool. It gives all of the relevant data needed and provides a difficulty ranking for each keyword. I rely on it every day. They also provide free updates for life.

I mostly focus on the Google keyword tool, once in a while i will bust out Micro Niche Finder, but for the most part Google KW Tool is enough for me.

Using various payed options is better for long tail keywords, but I find the free Google keyword tool has been enough for me and I can confidently build any keyword campaign using their free tool.

Google Keyword Tool is certainly the most accurate becasue the data comes straight from Google but there is no proof they are providing exact numbers.

It may be best to use more than one tool to sense check. As mentioned already above wordtracker is also a useful second tool to sense check against.

Interesting experience today. In the Google keyword search tool I ran the following variables on my primary keywords for my business and got these USA average monthly results:

    homeowners associations websites................3600
    homeowner association websites...................1600
    homeowner association website.....................1000
    homeowners association website.....................720

The presumption of course would be that the term with all plurals generates by FAR the most traffic. So we set our SEO work up around principally that term and we launch a new AdWords campaign today covering each term and expect the impression numbers to roughly track the above.

    NOT EVEN CLOSE:

    homeowner association website...........1,044
    homeowners association website............361
    homeowners associations websites...........92
    homeowner association websites..............60

Now the singular variation dominates, not the plural.

I should note we bid so as to be #1 or #2 on each term so you would expect every input of the keywords into Google would generate an impression.

    Any ideas what's going on????

Need a little more information to fully help here, can you answer the below 2 questions:

What match type are your keywords set to in your account?

What match type were you looking at when you conducted your original search volume analysis??

A few initial thoughts for this diagnosis could suggest one of the following, either:

    - your daily ad spend is not set high enough to ensure you compete in every search auction on one of your above keyword terms. Google will spread your ads across the day if your daily budget is not set high enough to compete in all auctions.

    - Secondly you may have reached the end of your daily budget so your ads are not displayed,

    - Thirdly do you have any day part targeting on the campaign which means it is only showed during certain hours of the day? If so you may not hit all impressions.

The other thing to note is that the search volume given by Google is not always gospel but in my experience the actual search volume for a term is genrally higher than what they are they are telling me.

In the keyword research tool I have the box checked that says "Only show ideas closely related to my search terms". In AdWords I am running the search network only. My budget ran out very late in the evening, but that's not the point, remember I'm comparing impressions to the search tool. I see no reason they wouldn't be close. And no, my ads ran continuously until the budget ran out about 10:00 p.m.
