Hey all I was wondering what is all the factors that you use to look at a good keyword, what seems to work with me is using inventory.overture.com to see how many people are searching for it, and then allinanchor: keyword phrase on google to see how many competing sites are out there. Anyone do anything different or know of what type of numbers you are looking for to get "good" keyword phrase that you can get ranked for quickly?
I use Wordtracker and have started experimenting with MSN adCenter research tools as they give me an indication of traffic specific to the UK. I then go to www.nichewatch.com which gives me a hold load of technical optimisation metrics such as allinanchor, allintitle, allintext, Page Rank, Backlinks pages indexed of up to the top 20 webpages on Google for a specific term. The only disadvantage is that its not specific to the UK.
I use the keyword suggestion tool, it displays results from both Yahoo and Word Tracker (not that I trust what Yahoo says but it's a good gauge).
I've never been able to get Niche Watch to work, I provided a valid Google API Key, and it never works. As for getting results from Yahoo I think that is the most accurate analysis of demand you can get at this time, so looks like i'm doing keyword about the same as you guys sweet.
My username is Jordash, if you could find out what is wrong that'd be great, NicheWatch sounds like a useful tool. Thanks
There is problem with your Google API key. It is invalid. Please get another one and enter it. It would work fine.
I used a combination of tools. First the keyword research tools from seobook. Then, filter some of them out by using the keyword difficulty tools from seomoz. If I need to further check on my result (especially local search result), I use Google keyword tools.
Fact of the matter is that your key is invalid. Please get one again and live easy life with nichewatch. There is no other problem.
Aaron Wall has a good tool http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/ Especially the links connected to the search can be very helpful.
That's pretty cool, put's alot of the research I do together into one. ----- I'll have to try creating a new Google account because the first API key I guess doesn't work
