Say you looked at the Key-word "make money online". Let's imagine the results are 500,567 searches without Quotes- and 1000 with Quotes. You may want to use this as a key phrase, because using the exact term you are competing with helps with your ranking on the 1st page. The inverted commas are really there for YOU - to help with your research That is the ONLY reason. The quotes allow you to ascertain your competition! This is the SECRET that no one explains. When you conduct a search at Google WITHOUT the quotes, you get results that contain your keywords IN ANY COMBINATION. But...... .......when you conduct a search WITH the quotes, you get results that only include pages that contain your EXACT keyword phrase. Do you see the difference? I hope this helps a few here as it confused the HECK out of me when i began. Regards Mr Story
I knew that and there is another way to look at the competition. You can use this to check your competition allintitle:yourkeyword. The more the search results the more will be the competition.
It's easier just to have a look in the google adwords key words section, gives you in details the competition, areas etc. I use it all the time.
if someone here is using MarketSamurai, can you please explain what does the ranking mean for phrase match and broad match. I agree that to evaluate competition, one needs to check for keywords in phrase as only that way it shows real competing pages.
The best answer for that is market samurai has a huge video library for training, they will teach you how to use their program but also how that relates to the current marketplace so it's pretty good training.
