    Hi,

I'm doing my first run of organic keyword research and I've come across a problem.

I'm building a table with 9 keywords with the following fields:

    -Google uk pages
    -Google Page 1 PR
    -allintitle
    -allinanchor
    -intitle:"Keyword Keyword" inanchor:"Keyword Keyword"
    -G page 1 Y links
    -Overture searches
    -Google UK searches

Things worked well until I got to the intitle + inanchor field. This field shows how many pages have the keyword in the title and in the anchor text of incoming links. According to the rules of logic, this number should always be smaller than inanchor and intitle but in some cases, it is not.

    Example:

    free online dating 25,700 972 32,700
    free dating 64,800 22,500 26,900

    What's going on???

    Thanks in advance.

    Joe

First off, the special operators like 'inurl', 'inanchor' and even 'site', seem to have been getting less and less reliable over the past 24 months as Google has made some major changes to their infrastructure. But the main problem is that the results count display is not an absolute count - its an estimate. When you combine special operators in a single query, you compound the error factor in that estimate.

The only good news is that while you can't rely on the results as being absolutely accurate, barring any further changes to Google's infrastructure or the operation of these commands, you can use them to monitor the changes in the results over time. Good luck!
