Hi guys. I've been marketing online for a short while now, and am still pretty new to free ways of driving traffic. Recently I stumbled upon Travis Saga's Bum Marketing method which has worked pretty well for me so far. The essence of his course is to find "EXACT" phrase keywords (with the quotation marks) with competition of about 5000 pages then write articles based around these keywords. But at the same time, while doing research on how to rank my site better, I have come across a lot of SEO information advising to look for keywords with a broad search (No Quotation Marks) with a competion of about 300 000 pages. Now I do fully understand the difference between the exact and broad match search. What im looking for is some input with regards to what works better for ranking articles in Google. What have you guys found to work best? What do you base your keyword research around, and what kind of results are you getting?
The most important part of SEO from my experience with Google at least is having lots of links to your site. Then google starts placing your site higher. On my blog I saw a dramatic increase of Google (organic) hits after I started marketing with paid advertising. This was a nice surprise.
@cg3512 Thing is, its not my site im trying to rank with these keywords... Im simply trying to rank my articles on the first page of google, these articles are direct linking to the merchant's site under my own domain...might add a landing page later if the conversion is good enough. Have you used articles as a way to build links to your site? If so, what's your strategy around keyword research for your articles?
Backlinks building the the basic. Do it more and be consistent and you will see your sites rank well in SE. Of course don't ignore your keywords.
