    hi,

i am from germany, so normally i use google.de for my searches.
kwt reports for one keyword the 1st position in the serps, but in google.de it´s on the 123rd position!
in the options dialog i changed to restrict the search to germany (but no restriction to german language search).

    website: www.camworks.de
    keyword: videoproduktionen

can anyone explain this strange behaviour? i cannot imagine that this comes only from google´s geotargeting feature.

    regards, arndt

On the Internet, there is no reality. :D

Partially, it probably is geotargeting. However, it is also true that each Google server serves different SERPS.

It is true that the Google server accessed by the Google API utilized by the Digital Point Keyword Tracker will often return one result, while a manual search will return another result.

However, it is equally true than manual searches across Google's many servers will also return different results.

Try it for yourself at the Google Datacenter Watch Tool.

You can go to Preferences and select to only search the german Google. Because of geotargetting this difference occurs.
Your site is ranked lower on the German database of Google than the worldwide one. Worldwide generally seems to be easier to get ranked well in for non-english keywords.

ok, i see. i already set the options to german google (as i wrote in my first message). if i go to google.de the keyword shows 123rd position, in google.com (without any options set) it shows 151st position.

i thought, that 123 positions are a bit too much only for geotargeting...

Well, the keyword tracker only reports what Google gives it.... it doesn't make stuff up. :) If you really want to know the differences, the only one that could actually tell you *why* would be Google.
