We released a website 3 months ago and we are in the first page of Google with some keywords. Example: According to Google keyword tool the keyword -video classifieds-is searched on average 1600/month(U.S) but we see very few clicks from that specific keyword(20/mth) Any opinions why in 1 month the number of clicks from a keyword could be so low? Even "curiosity clicks" should bring more traffic Anyone can help? Thank you
Do you mean the google adwords external tool? Its mostly ment to compare the number of advertisers that want to advertise each phrase. It will generally give a good picture of the full story tho. You should check out two things. 1. Is your search phrase popular? 2. Is your success global or just in your local SERPs? Answers: 1. Check out google insights for search and compare it to some search phrases that you allready know the volume for (or you can estimate/image)(or contact me) 2. Check global SERP. Just google it! Best of luck!
Where you are on the first page is going to make a huge difference on how many of the potential 1600 you get - the first 3 results get something like 50% of the clicks - I can't remember what the average distribution is for other positions off the top of my head - if you do some rooting around on google you'll find various bits of research on it - but by the time you get to 5th and 6th position you can realistically expect to get around 5% of potential clicks
there are several things to consider here. adwords external KW tool shows data not only on Google.com but also for its partner sites. so 1600 searches/month that you see is for google PLUS on its partner sites. another point to be noted is that 1600 searches are based on broad match. when you narrow it down to exact match, you will see that google doesn;t even have enough data for last month and on average, that terms results in only 480 searches a month. that would explain why you are not getting any clicks
Sounds like you optimized for a phrase that just is not searched on much. Try to be "less targeted" or find other words/phrases that are relevant to your site to optimize for.
Well let's do the math, 1600 clicks per month is about 50 clicks a day. If you are not in the top 3 you will see only 5% of that, which is about 1 or 2 clicks a day or 30-60 a month. So that sounds about right if you are not in top 1, 2 or 3. Also the adwords stats can be a bit off.
wordtracker says 8 free gay military classifieds video 1 free military classifieds video 1 selltube video classifieds 1 video classifieds 11 total searches per day
For top 10, it's something like this, #1 gets 42%, #2 gets 11%, #3 gets 8%, #4 gets like 6%, #5 gets 4%. Rest are about 3% down to high 2%+. so if you aren't on top 3, you aren't going to get more than 2 clicks a day in the most likely scenario. My keyword is "free classified ads", and supposingly, get 30k searchs a month, I am on page 2, I only get like maybe 0.2% of total search volume, which is very sad. Need to fight to #1 or you won't get much traffic.
thats correct.. top 3 is always better. But don't build a page and wait for it to appear even tho its squidoo or hubpage. You should create backlinks to that page with blogs, rss, pings and social bookmarks to generate your main traffic stream. IF doing this results into giving you top 3, then PERFECT ! otherwise, keep doing this UNTIL you reach top 3 !!!
I would be happy to take a few moments to evaluate your website and offer my option based on your request. - What is the is the domain name of the website? If you would like for me to take a look into the situation, feel free to contact me in private with your domain name or post it here.
i think it is because you just rank to a certain data center and in other google data center you dont rank that high so that means you dont get all the traffic the is searching for that keyword. thats why you are getting only a few click.
Don't trust Google's estimated search volume. Simple as that. I have found it to be very inaccurate. Nevertheless, It's not that wrong. If you are in the top 3 positions you should get at least a portion of that traffic. Install Google Analytics and pay close attention.
Yeah I agee these tools should only be used as a guideline even though alot of the time they are a good indicator.. What is interesting though is how some keyword phrases searches are not in these yet get plenty of traffic from the serps.. What i think it is sometimes is certain words do not come up in these such as what is or how to so the keyword tool may say it gets a lot of searches for a keyword, yet it could be meaning the keyword phrase that is exact..
