Keyword ranking went down :(..

My site was ranking high all this week for a specific keyword phrase on google (it was on the top of the first page), but I just noticed today it is more toward the bottom..

Is this normal for its location to fluctuate? How can I maintain the first spot?

 

Google's SERPs have been fluctuating since I came online 6 years ago. If you want to
dominate the #1 position, you need more links. My clients have pretty good luck staying
in the #1 spot with links.

Even Google results are always fluctuated but this is a reflection on how quality on your backlinks. I would recommend you to not panic and start to acquire quality backlinks asap. You cannot get stabilize in ranking until you have enough quality backlinks pointing to + domain age.

you site may have more back links or links without good rank quality sites. to increase site rank you need to change title of your site &link exchange with good pr sites.

 

You won't stay at number one position unless you keep building links for your website. That is, you need to invest some bucks to stay there longer and not let your competitors beat you.

check out the recent site you link to your site, if links are sitewide do try to remove them asap, and feed with pr0, gray bar or pr1 links.

also, i installed the all in one seo pack, and my site went down even further into the results.. i guess it is normal but it will allow me to build upon a good base..?

hey nothing to worry the problem is this if your keywords are more competitive then your competitor do more work on keywords so your site is goes down in the list...
you can sort out this problem by article submission, press release, and classified posting etc. these are some easy way to maintain the first spot.

 

I notice that Google seemed to change their algorythm lately, since many of the sites that dominate on popular keywords have dropped, and new ones were replaced.

 

may be your keyword is very competitive it is a normal situation of fluctuating in the position. you will do more and more article submission, press release and classified posting.
you need to make more backlinks so that you can improve your ranking and maintain your first spot

well all i can say that the google is always a fluctuating vehicle for the passengers inside it. and if you want to be no. 1 in the rankings you have to do the seo periodically. as it is a well known fact that the google changes the ranking after at a specific crawling action on a site for it's niche. this process is called as cahe. you can get it by clicking your keywords and in the search results you will get to see the cahe date near your URL. I suggest you to do promotion of your site by various optimization tasks at specific period of time.
