If you list in the top ten for a keyword that gets searched say 1000 times a day on google, how much of that can you expect the lower you rank on the top ten?

the 10th position should expect 1% or ten times? More less and studies done on this?

Maximum clicks will get for 1 to 3 only. Mostly people will get 4 - 10 if they didn't found the result what they are expecting from top 3.

The traffic for your site will flow just alright. I believe that there will be 30-50 clicks from 1000 searches. Try to search Google. I’ve seen similar posts before.

    # 1 - 60% of available daily search

    # 2 - 35 to 40%

    # 3 - 20%

    # 4 - 10%

    # 5 - 5%

Diminishing returns as you move downward, however with universal search in the middle of the pages positions 4 5 6 could see improved CTR due to the image displayed in proximity.

Of course user mileage may vary by make & model and blah blah blah...

The above disclaimer is used by force of my attorney :D
