Keyword ranking dropped two pages. Why?

After several weeks whitehat SEO work and careful site design/plannging, I had a very popular single keyword at the top of page four on Google, after four weeks, which had previously not been in the first fifty pages.

I have been checking this ranking daily and found to my utter horror that this single listing has dropped a full two pages in one full day.

No keyword stuffing, cloaking in use, but this has still happened.

Please, is this normal behaviour for Google?

 

When did you notice it? Last few weeks of May? You might have experience the google dance at that time.. Google had been updating on that time.. It takes 2-3 days before google finishes the updates.. Try to check it now.. You might see better results..

 

Is it a new site? It also might be sandbox

 

The site itself has been established and ranked since 2001.

I have been checking the ranking of this keyword, passively, on a daily basis for the last few weeks.

The page JUMPTED from 50+ to 4+ two weeks ago, then dropped back to 6+ over the weekend.

The site itself has had minor content changes.

 

I've seen this happen before also, and a week later it was back to normal. I wouldn't worry too much.

 

thats normal for google its maybe on sandbox

 

if u have done any onsite changes then might be chances of ranking down.

 

This could be the effect of google updates. Just continue your techniques and it will eventually come back.

There is no certain timing or date of Google updations. Every time they update something.

 

You ought to keep working at building back links and trying to network on a daily basis for improved stability in your serps.

If you do your efforts in batches, then you would surely have lot more fluctuations of these types in your serps, more often!

Consistency and perseverance is the name of this game!

Many times the ranking drops could be temporary and results of the Google fluctuations about dances and database updates. The case about newer websites could happen all the time as they still are trying to get known and quality links will be really great.

 

yah my site (one month) drop from page one 9# to page 92, in one day ....
sad, serp drop also cause my traffic from 200 uv to 20 uv
