I am targeting 3 keywords. An example of one is "cheap red widget" Will an inbound link with the text "new cheap red widget" give me any credit for my targeted keyword, or is it a waste of an inbound link? Thanks.
It will And will go a long way in improving your SERP if quality sites link to you with that specific keyword.
The answer is yes... Google looks at all the text in the link and gives you credit for every variation of the words. Also because of LSI you can get credit for similar words. Case in point I have a client that goes after the term dandruff shampoo but his links are built for itchy scalp. He ranks in the top 5 for dandruff shampoo. So carry on............
Essentially yes it will, I do not know if it would help as much or less then just the keyword. I am still testing that... but any link helps!
No, inbound links it should be related to your site. make an anchor text that related to your link. try to make more inbound links to your site.. i hope you get my point
Hi !! Inbound links are very helpful, esp. when it is having your keywords in the anchor text (The clickable part). If you get the inbound link from the relevant sites then it will help you to get good position in SERP also.
You can create different variations of your keyword. You must target a keyword that is related to your site. Using New cheap red widget as your anchor text is not waste of time.
I myself don't get your point what exactly do you mean?? IMO all links pointing to you will help especially if those links have an anchor text of which your targeting at...You should definitely create an anchor text that is related to what your site is if not what's the point?? Just like Smokedog had just said "SE will look and give credit with all the variation of the words..."
Yes. But remember - you can't have inbound links 100% involving the same keyword phrase or search engines may flag this up as too artificial.
