Can someone please confirm in meta keyword tags and when adding keywords to a social bookmarking site which format is better? I have seen both used by my competitors above me in the SE rankings and I am confused. 1) shoes, boots, trainers, leather, black, brown, 2) black shoes, blue shoes, brown shoes, black boots, brown boots...etc Which is right and does it matter? S
I think it would depend on the site. Some may be programmed to check all keywords for each individual word. Others may be programmed to only return exact matches. If in doubt, check how that particular site recommends to format keywords. You can also try searching those sites for keywords and see how it treats exact and non-exact matches. I would think the 2nd option is better, unless you have a very short keywords/tag field. Each site is not necessarily the same though.
The 2nd one is the way I would go. Those keywords are very specific and rarely do prospects who are looking to buy type in generic words without having a description. If I want to find shoes, I will type in "basketball shoes" and not just shoes. Regards and hope this helps.
Really you should be using a combination of both. Take me my site is about making money online so not only do I have make, money, online, but I also have make money online.
