First you should know the rank of your keyword before placing it in the webpage. If it is worth applying then only your website will get the traffic .For example you are placing a keyword wedding ring for the website bestweddinginvitation.com then no one is gonna check your website because the keyword is not even properly linked.
But if you are using keyword wedding invitation for the same website then it will help you a lot in increasing the website

In my opinion first u should check the rank of keyword by using Google ad word after that u can place keywords in title, keyword and also in description tag.
u can also use keyword in alt tag in this way u can increase ur website rank

Ultimately try to have your keyword in the Title as close to the beginning as possible. Placing the keyword in H1-H6 tags, bolds and italics will also give it an extra prominence. But do this wisely, only when your keyword flows in naturally because you should be writing your content for your readers first, and only then for the search engines. Keep the overal keyword density below 3% or you can get the search engine's spam filters going.

Check out this SEO tool it's a great help for starting SEOs.
