Fellow amazon associates, I'm not sure whether I correctly understood Amazon's policy on keyword (adword) bidding. 1. Can I bid on the keword "Amazon" for my own website, where the affiliate link to amazon is embedded. 2. Does it make a difference on astore ? If I setup an astore, setup my own domain name, can I bid on "Amazon" ? 3. I'm aware that there might be trademark infringement issues, e.g. google "amazon", there would be no ad links. however, if google "amazon books", they are other ad links, if they are allowed to bid "amazon", can we associates do the same ?
No you can not bid on Amazon, Kindle, misspellings of them etc., and they have terminated accounts in the past caught doing that. The ads you see with those words are probably by amazon themselves. Operating Agreement section 4 sub section J
Why would you want to compete with Amazon on their own Trademarks? They have more money than you and can run the rates up. If you're going to buy keywords you need to find good traffic terms that describe the products in your catalog. Best, Justin
You can never bid on these terms as already explained. No, actually you aren't even allowed to use an aStore as a landing pagge for any paid traffic. The reason is that these people bid on "books" as phrase or broad match and don't have "amazon" as a keyword in their blacklist. So, they don't actually bid on "amazon".
