Keyword Placement

Discussion in 'Keywords' started by Phil, Nov 27, 2005.

Everywhere I look I see all sorts of references to high paying keywords.
Tell me, will these keywords work if placed in my metatags, or should they be placed in the content of a web page?

I'm no expert for sure, but I have gotten good results placing keywords in both places. (although most search engines ignore the meta-keywords, they say) I use webceo (free version) to optimize my pages, it gives some pretty good advice (at least for MSN) and it's good for SEO newbies like me.

Keywords placement is important in your meta tags: title, descriptions and key phrases. Content wise focus on keyword density and proximity. There are many article out there talking about such topics. This should get you started. Try only focusing on 4-5 keywords per page, any more and you loose focus.

Of each page put correct keywords for that page here:

    - Title tag.

    - H1 and H2.

    - In paragraphs and general text on the site.

    - In STRONG tags: <STRONG>Keyword</STRONG>

    - In the file names of the web document: www.domain.com/keyword.html

    - ALT description attributes on image tags: <IMG SRC="" ALT="A picture about Keyword">

    - TITLE attributes on anchor tags: <A HREF="" TITLE="Here you can get info about Keyword">

    - SUMMARY attributes on tables: <TABLE SUMMARY="In this table you will see keyword">

    - In the file names of images: <IMG SRC="keyword.gif">

    - Meta description tag.

    - Meta keyword tag.

But remember that before you do this make a standard keyword analysis so you know which keywords to target.

When you finish that you must also do the off-page optimization otherwise it will have very little effect.

The main part is getting hundreds of links with the right anchors on the right pages.

    Good luck.

    Thanks very much.
I'm very new to all this SEO stuff but I'm starting to see it's a lot of work and attention to detail.
    Thanks again.
