Hello Guys, Gals, The KEI has me stumped on the numbers. Someone please explain to me if the searches are high, KEI is high, and results are high, how can it state it is easier to get to the top? The more results, more competition is harder to get to top 10 rankings. So what top is this meaning? Thanks, RD
The KEI is a measure of how effective a keyword is for your web site. The derivation of the formula for KEI is based on three axioms: 1) The KEI for a keyword should increase if its popularity increases. Popularity is defined as the number present in the "Count" column of WordTracker. This axiom is self-explanatory. 2) The KEI for a keyword should decrease if it becomes more competitive. Competitiveness is defined as the number of sites which a search engine e.g. AltaVista displays when you search for that keyword using exact match search. Exact match search means that a search engine searches for only those sites which use the keyword exactly as typed in by the user. It is the equivalent of entering: VISIT - http://www.wordtracker.com/database_help/keihelp.html MORE - http://www.searchenginepromotionhelp.com/m/articles/search-engine-optimization/kei-good-indicator.php
Hi there, My name's Mal and I work for Wordtracker Customer Support. I've just found this thread, and wanted to let you know that we've just released a new Keyword Tool, and the KEI in this tool is a little different than in the old toolset. We've introduced some new metrics to measure competition, and these are In Title and In Anchor. The new KEI is based on In Anchor, and looks at how many pages have backlinks containing the keyword you're researching in the anchor text. The new KEI is calculated: searches x searches / In Anchor. There's a good article by Mike Mindel about the new tool and the metrics that are included - you can find this at: wordtracker[dot]com/academy/business-blogs-book Do let us know if you have any questions about this.
Yes KEI means (Key Words Effectiveness Indexing) the number of times keyword has appeared in the site pages. It provides detailed information on the number of searches, predicted number of daily searches, competing pages and KEI data. LIKE If the Searches per month were 10,000 and the search results is 1,610,000, then the KEI is 0.62%.
