Keyword in URL definitely helps in getting your inner pages showing higher up in search results. It's good for developing what some people call a 'long tail'
IMO, it's not any much more useful. Keyword in domain name have good impact, but in url, not much more. still it's good practice to have long tail keyword in URL, so that visitor like to surf your website, keep in mind your website is for real human visitors not for search engines.
It's part of a comprehensive strategy - you can rank without doing it but would you rank a tad higher if you did it? Yes.
keywords in the URL helps a lot! it will directly impact rankings. Repeat the same keywords in your url though and it will have a negative effect. www. keywords.com <- Better than www. yrntit.com (for ranking for those keywords). www. keywords.com/keywords.html <- Bad, will lower your rankings. www. yrntit.com/keywords.html <- Also good but slightly less than the first.
Hi james... i agree with you.....great explanation IMO....KW in URL is as important as KW in Title, description, H1 tag.....in Content
Thanks a lot for the info. Does it help a lot? I ask because I have an idea for a domain that sounds really cool but it doesn't have my keyword in it.
Keywords are basically the search term by any visitor, So using keywords in urls are helpful in getting ranking in search engine result pages.
Keyword in URL can definitely help you. But the main thing is to gather targeted keyword anchor text link back to your site.
yes it helps a lot. plus if someone decides to link to you without asking, the anchor text with be your keyword rather than. e.g. kpfgh.com
