    Hi,

I'm just starting to learn SEO and I'm working on my business website.

I need to put keywords in for the products and sections but have a quick question.

    For example....

We sell football trophies - would i need to put in

football trophy, football trophies, football awards

as keywords for this or would just football suffice? My thinking of just having the word football is that I'll get 'grouped' with every other football site when I don't want to be, but is putting trophy, trophies and awards frowned upon by search engines - bearing in mind that we do loads of sports so the keywords will be 3 fold for each sport we do.

Do you know what I mean, not sure I've explained it that well :D

    Thanks for any advise.

Google will recognize the three are similar. Try to avoid general keywords when you're first starting out. Check your PMs.

If you haven't done so, I strongly suggest you read "Web Copy That Sells: The Revolutionary Formula for Writing Killer Copy Every Time" by Maria Veloso. It should be available at your local public library.

One main factor is that there should not be generality in keywords. search engines ignores many generalities and gives its own suggestions instead and then results NOT in favour :)
