Ok, I searched a few keywords first on googles keyword tool to see how many people in America actually search the keyword and than I searched how I placed with those keywords. Well I placed for a few keywords that have around 1k searches a month but I have a much bigger question that i'm confused about... Ok, according to googles keyword tool the search term "bjj gi" is searched 18,100 times in America and I rank as #14 for that keyword which means i'm on the second page. What I'm confused about is out of 18,100 people searching that term how come I have never even once gotten a click from that keyword off google? Is being on the first page that important? I'm sure it is but out of 18,100 searches shouldn't I get at least one click? I'm so confused please help!
Interesting; I see you as ranked 23rd. Make sure that you're not actually ranking higher because of personalized searches. If you're using Google Chrome you can open up an incognito window and start doing your ranking research in there; or use a tool in FFox like SEOBook's SEO Toolbar (rank checker). Anyways- it could be something to do with your website titles and meta description. Right now I'm seeing that your Title is: "Submission Fight Company | Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi's" and your Meta description is: "Submission Fight Company is by far the web's most affordable source for quality constructed Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi's" Your text doesn't really draw people in thinking that your website is about purchasing bjj gi's. I could be wrong; just my 2c.
It's confusing I just checked google chrome and i'm ranked #18 for the search term "bjj gi" and to be honest I haven't really tried to rank for this keyword at all. I submitted to maybe 100 directories with the title of "Submission Bjj Gi" and I guess that got my this close. Maybe a couple hundred more can get me to #1. any ways, if you think the text doesn't really draw people in do you have a better text that you could recommend?
It doesn't get 18,100 searches per month in the us, that's broad match, you need to look for exact match which is around 5400 searches per month. Yes being on the first page, actually the first 3 spots is VERY important if you want anyone to visit. Page 2 is as good as page 50. What is your main keyword phrase you are looking to rank for?
where do you find this broad or exact match thing? I don't have a main keyword really but i realized i placed close enough with this keyword randomly that has a good amount of searches and decided to start working on this keyword.
You can use the Google keyword tool. It's free Type in a keyword or keywords and hit get keyword ideas. The default is broad match, then look over to the right hand side of the results, you will see a drop down menu that says broad match, change that to exact match and that is the exact amount of searches that are typed in for that specific phrase
