I'm looking at buying some keyword domains and then pointing them to my main website, is this idea good / bad / waste of money / other

There is a small chance someone might want to buy but the main aim is to get links to the website.

Or should I set them up as a mini website one page with keyword links to my main domain....????????

    Cheers for any tips etc..

Do it carefully, because if you have small website with only 1 keyword, search engine will think this is a doorway page and ban it.

But if you can solve this problem, it do will help you.

Just buying domains won't get you anything.

The only way to get more power to your main site is through links. If you buy a topical, expired domain (or site) with hundreds of links, you can link to your main site or redirect the traffic (if you don't own the content).

Other than that, buying domains and redirecting them is a waste of time. Keep in mind that the search engines look for ways to stop people manipulating their results.

What you can do, instead, is to create linkworthy content.
